Santa Fe Trip

Matt, Chelsea and I went to Santa Fe this past weekend to run some errands, but also, to take some photos of Spanish Mustangs for my upcoming show. Doug Lanham was kind enough to let us take some photos of his two mustangs, Blue and Cherokee and then contacted Donna Mitchell of the Little Cayuse Ranch (www.LittleCayuseRanch.com)south of Santa Fe so that we could run down there and take photos of her herd. It was rainy and cloudy, but we had so much fun meeting these folks, learning more about the Spanish mustang and getting lots of good reference photos. I think we took over 500 hundred photos. I have already started a drawing from this weekend and will post it soon. Later that day we went to the gallery to drop off one of my latest pieces that will be in Altermann's June 27th auction and catch up with them before heading home that night. It was a long day, up at 6 a.m. drive 100 miles to the Little Cayuse, drive back to Santa Fe and home in Colorado by midnight. All I had to do was sit in the car, but for some reason was really tired the next day. Thanks to Doug and Donna for their help and hospitality!!

For sure, August 7th is the artist reception at Altermann Galleries, Santa Fe, for my one woman show! (Altermann.com for more info)I am deep in the weeds (as they say) getting ready for it, and wondering often if I will be able to get it all done. I always do, but this time we are talking 20 drawings, the largest collection of drawings ever available at one place and one time. I shouldn't think about it anymore. One half of the drawings will be of Spanish Mustangs as this show is partially to benefit the preservation of the Spanish Mustang, and the other will be my more western themed drawings. I plan on posting some of the completed works on this blog as they are finished, but ALtermann will have a complete web catalog before the show. Feel free to call if you have any questions about any of the drawings, and one of us will get back to you right away.

The above drawing is one for the show and are Spanish mustangs. I think they are sweet and it was a fun drawing to do, Large too.
